The Aviator Sports Complex is located on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, and is an 800-acre decommissioned airport which is part of Gateway National Recreation Area. It’s about 10 miles from both Lower Manhattan and JFK Airports.
The facility is housed in a former airplane hangar that features soaring ceilings and an architectural style rich with the history of aviation and modern life. The complex includes sports, recreation, and events spaces, as well as a full-service fitness center, gymnastics, and meeting and events rooms. The outdoor facilities include two multisport outdoor turf fields, as well as numerous outdoor fields and large event spaces.
There are over 170,000 square feet of total indoor event, athletic, and recreation space for individuals, families, and groups along with a 20,000 square foot field house with indoor hardwood courts and indoor turf fields. There’s also outdoor event space for festivals, fairs, concerts, and community-oriented entertainment.
Activities hosted at the Aviator Sports Complex include public skating, ice hockey, gymnastics, basketball, flag football, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, rock climbing, cheerleading and more. The facility houses a healthy food court as well as a full selection of group catering menus for special events.
There are a number of sports instruction, programs and leagues offered at the complex, from learn-to-skate programs to youth instructional volleyball to youth hockey and soccer clinics.
The Aviator Sports and Events Fitness Center also provides residents with a unique opportunity to be part of a fitness facility and multisport mega complex. With over 5,000 square feet of state-of-the-art weight training equipment and cardiovascular machines, you’re sure to find the equipment needed to get and stay in shape. Personal training and aerobics classes are also available in the Fitness Center.
